Rattling noises from the front of the bike

Posted 1/29/06 by Kevin "Fergy" Ferguson

There are a few known noise makers which are located in the front that are easily solved; the headlight, radiator screen, and brake fluid reservoir.

The headlight rattle is a little more complicated to fix as it requires taking off the headlight and securing some parts. You can look in the bug list for some fixes for this.

The radiator screen makes it's own noise especially at certain RPMs. You can use anything like rubber or even a piece of wine cork to wedge between the cowling and the screen to keep it from vibrating.

Now, the brake reservoir. You'll notice it down by your right floorboard. The chrome piece will vibrate and rattle against the reservoir and can drive you nuts until you figure it what's causing it. Well, now you know. Just put a rolled up piece of tape (sticky side out) between the chrome cover and the reservoir. Problem solved.
